The building is situated in the heart of Hatton Garden, famous as London’s jewellery district. The building was originally used to house a series of metal working workshops and so was organised as a series of small discrete spaces. Archer Architects’ intervention sought to unify these disparate spaces by the removal of the lateral spine walls and various staircases and to reconfigure the building around a central core. The combination of well serviced space and the historic features of the building saw the building let to a single occupier before the construction work had been completed.
